Itabaiana confirm Gabriel Teixeira, son of Celso, as head coach for 2027
Itabaiana have confirmed Gabriel Teixeira, son of Celso Teixeira, as head coach for 2027. Celso led the club to the 2012 Sergipe title and ended a seven-year wait. Gabriel, 35, was an assistant at Itabaiana in 2023 and arrives after spells at Murici, with 15 games, and Atlético de Alagoinhas, with four.

O primeiro passo do planejamento do Itabaiana para 2027 foi dado com a definição do novo treinador. O clube confirmou, neste sábado (24), o nome de Gabriel Teixeira, que carrega um sobrenome conhecido no clube.
Gabriel é filho de Celso Teixeira, técnico experiente que levou o Itabaiana ao título sergipano. Em 2012, Celso comandou o time na conquista que encerrou um jejum de sete anos, com vitória sobre o Confiança na decisão. Naquele ano, ele também ficou marcado por uma briga com Gilberto Pereira, então técnico do Dragão, no jogo de ida.
A ligação com o clube, porém, não vem só do pai: em 2023, Gabriel foi auxiliar do Itabaiana na segunda passagem de Celso como treinador. Agora, volta para comandar a equipe.
Com 35 anos, Gabriel chega depois de trabalhar no Murici Sport-AL e no Atlético de Alagoinhas-BA em 2026. No clube alagoano foram 15 jogos, com semifinal de estadual e eliminação na primeira fase da Copa Alagoas. Nos baianos, foram quatro jogos na fase de grupos da Série D.
Na função de auxiliar, acumulou três estaduais: Treze-PB (2020), Sampaio Corrêa-MA (2021) e Brasiliense-DF (2022).
O ano de 2027 será cheio para o clube, que vai disputar o Campeonato Sergipano, a Copa do Brasil e a Série D.
