Índio Ferreira takes Atlético Santa Rita to the top flight and his future stays open
Atlético Santa Rita have reached the Paraibano top flight for the first time as Segundona runners-up under Índio Ferreira, despite losing 1-0 to Cruzeiro-PB on Tuesday (27). It is the coach's third promotion in the state, and his future for 2027 remains open.

Pela primeira vez em sua história, o Atlético Santa Rita estará na elite do Campeonato Paraibano. O acesso veio com o vice-campeonato da Segundona, sob comando de Índio Ferreira, após a derrota por 1 a 0 para o Cruzeiro-PB na última terça-feira (27).
Agora o clube planeja 2027, temporada em que terá nove adversários tradicionais na elite, sem definição sobre a permanência do treinador.
É o terceiro acesso de Índio Ferreira no estado. O primeiro foi em 2016, com o Internacional-PB, campanha que também rendeu o título da segunda divisão. Em 2019, repetiu o feito pelo São Paulo Crystal, igualmente com vice-campeonato.
Nesta edição, o técnico superou derrotas nas primeiras rodadas, viu o Tigre engatar nove jogos de invencibilidade e se destacar pelas goleadas. Depois da campanha, agradeceu torcedores, diretoria, comissão técnica e jogadores em publicação nas redes sociais.
"Obrigado, torcedores, diretoria, minha comissão e, em especial, meus atletas. Que grupo bom de verdade! Em 2026, o grupo que eu tive no Tigre me fez sonhar e pensar em voltar à beira do campo e comandar novamente", escreveu.
Os adversários do Tigre em 2027 são Atlético-PB, Botafogo-PB, Campinense, Cruzeiro-PB, Esporte de Patos, Nacional de Patos, Serra Branca, Sousa e Treze.
