Ballon d'Or returns to England with a nod to Stanley Matthews

The Ballon d'Or ceremony returns to England to honour Stanley Matthews, the first winner of the prize, handed over in a Blackpool town hall when he was 41, decades before his death in 2000 at 85 and a funeral that drew more than 100,000 people onto the streets of Stoke.
