Conte, Nagelsmann and Howe: who is available in Europe's coaching market
With the European season still in its early stages, several clubs in the main leagues are already thinking about changing coaches. The names available in the market include Eddie Howe, Didier Deschamps, Antonio Conte, Arne Slot, Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto Martinez.

A temporada europeia está ainda no início, mas vários clubes das principais ligas já pensam em mudar de técnico — casos de Michael Carrick, no Manchester United, e Pierre Sage, no Crystal Palace. O mercado, porém, tem nomes de peso disponíveis.
O inglês Eddie Howe está livre desde que deixou o Newcastle ao fim da última temporada. Ficou nos Magpies de 2021 a 2026 e liderou um projeto de transição, desenvolvimento de jogadores e mudança de patamar: ganhou a Copa da Liga, foi vice em outra e levou o clube à Champions League, depois de um trabalho histórico subindo o Bournemouth de divisões. Aos 48 anos, tem experiência na Premier League, apresenta times competitivos e foge de polêmicas.
Didier Deschamps é um técnico histórico em seleções. Após a Copa do Mundo de 2026, deixou o comando da França com legado inigualável: campeão mundial em 2018, finalista em 2022 como treinador e campeão como jogador em 1998, em 14 anos nos quais mudou o patamar dos Bleus. O italiano Antonio Conte está sem clube desde que deixou o Napoli em maio. Foram duas temporadas, com o vice-campeonato sucedendo o título italiano, mas a despedida aconteceu um dia após uma discordância pública com o presidente Aurelio De Laurentiis. Tem perfil vencedor em diferentes clubes e cenários, ainda que suas passagens costumem ser turbulentas, e declarou recentemente que gostaria de voltar à Premier League.
Arne Slot viveu duas temporadas opostas no Liverpool. Substituiu a lenda Jurgen Klopp mantendo a espinha dorsal da equipe e levou os Reds ao título da Premier League 2024/25; na temporada seguinte, atuações abaixo da crítica, tropeços inesperados e problemas no vestiário — em especial com Mohamed Salah — terminaram em quinto lugar e na saída de Anfield.
Julian Nagelsmann não deixou saudades na seleção alemã, eliminada de forma surpreendente pelo Paraguai nos pênaltis no mata-mata da Copa. Assumiu a Alemanha em crise, não elevou o nível da equipe e falhou nos principais torneios, com problemas fora de campo que renderam notícias na imprensa alemã e, antes, atritos internos no Bayern.
Roberto Martínez despediu-se de Portugal após a eliminação para a Espanha nas oitavas de final da Copa de 2026. Assumiu a seleção no início de 2023, foi eliminado nas quartas da Eurocopa de 2024 nos pênaltis para a França e depois conquistou a Liga das Nações, também nos pênaltis, sobre a Espanha; no Mundial, porém, foi previsível nas escolhas e não transformou uma ótima geração em favoritismo real.
