Why Caf has gone back to a two-year Afcon cycle

The Confederation of African Football reversed course and kept the Africa Cup of Nations on a two-year cycle, ten months after announcing a four-year plan. President Patrice Motsepe said the U-turn was about protecting the interests of the African game; the 2027 edition goes to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July.
