O Brighton voltou a surpreender na Premier League. Neste sábado (31/10), pela 9ª rodada, os Seagulls venceram o líder Manchester City por 1 x 0 no Etihad Stadium, com gol solitário de Ayari.
O City fica com 21 pontos e pode perder a ponta caso o Arsenal vença o Liverpool neste domingo (1°/11), também pela 9ª rodada. O Brighton, por sua vez, chegou aos 19 e aparece na terceira posição, ainda de olho no topo da tabela.
O time visitante abriu o placar cedo, aos 10 minutos. O cruzamento rasteiro veio da lateral direita, a bola tocou em De Cuyper e chegou limpa para Ayari estufar a rede da casa.
Mesmo atrás, o Manchester City teve dificuldade para levar perigo à meta de Verbruggen. Na parte final, o goleiro segurou a pressão com boas defesas nos chutes de O’Reilley e Doku e garantiu o resultado dos visitantes.
